Malate Fountain
Friday, October 24, 2008
| We came from the airport one night and decided to have dinner at Aristocrat Restaurant along Roxas Boulevard. On our way out, I saw this fountain in front of Malate Church and took a picture of it. Locals sit around the fountains and just make "tambay" (hang out). It's nice to be here again and seeing the fountain shooting water high up in the air and the different colored lights, it's simply breath taking and amazing!

The city of MANILA, known as Maynila for the Filipinos, is the capital city of the Philippines and one of the cities that make up the greater metropolitan area of Metro Manila. Manila is the center of government in the country and one of the central hubs of a thriving metropolitan area home to over 14 million people. It is located on the shores of Manila Bay just west of the geographical center of Metro Manila, also known as the National Capital Region (NCR), which lies on an isthmus between Manila Bay and Laguna de Bay in southern Luzon. The city is one of 17 cities and municipalities which form the metropolitan area. From shopping malls to high class sea ports, Manila City got it all, and one of the most visited places here is the Rizal Park where our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, was executed and buried. His monument was made there to commemorate his works for his motherland. (manila.gov. Labels: Landmarks |
Bonifacio Shrine
Tuesday, January 29, 2008
| Andrés Bonifacio y de Castro (November 30, 1863 – May 10, 1897), son of Santiago Bonifacio and Catalina de Castro, was a Filipino revolutionary leader and one of the main rebel leaders of the Philippine Revolution against Spanish colonial rule in the late 19th century. He is regarded as the "Father of the Philippine Revolution" and one of the most influential national heroes of his country. A Freemason, Bonifacio was the founder of the Katipunan organization which aimed to start an independence movement against Spain. The Bonifacio Monument sits at the crossroads of Rizal Avenue and pays tribute to the great Filipino hero, Andres Bonifacio. The shrine marks the first encounter between Andres Bonifacio and his group known as Katipunan, with the Spanish on August 3, 1896. Well, here's a photo of the Bonifacio Shrine in Manila. I know only a few knew about this place so I just want to share this to all of you. Labels: Landmarks |
