. It was a privilege to be invited at the presscon of "Nobody Nobody but Juan" last December 10 at Regal Office. Thanks to Ms. Loreilie Dionisio and Ms. Jojie Cardones for inviting me. Dolphy, The Philippines' King of Comedy, showcases his remarkable versatility in his latest film, "Nobody, Nobody but Juan" - an entry to the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival. This superb family comedy features an all-star cast that includes Eddie Garcia, Gloria Romero, Eric Quizon, Vandolph, Epy Quizon, G Tongi, Pokwang, Eugene Domingo, Bearwin Meily, Mar Lopez and Heart Evangelista. "Wowowee" host Willie Revillame plays a special guest role as himself, while gang of other comedians also join the fun. Andoy Ranay, Ricci Chan, Long Mejia, Brod Pete and many, many more. "Nobody, Nobody but Juan" talks about the heartaches and joys of senior citizens as embodied by Juan (played by Dolphy). Juan has two son, Mario (played by Eric) who happens to run the nursing home in Chicago where Juan lives, and John (played by co-producer Joe Aldeguer of Joe Aldeguer Productions). Juan is constantly at odds with son Mario because he refuses to follow orders to cut down on watching TV shows, particularly "Wowowee" on The Filipino Channel (TFC). Meantime, John, a businessman, is always too busy even to have a meal with Juan. As a result, Juan misses the company of loved ones in the Philippines, he wonders what had happened to his friends Turibio, Lolay, and most especially Aida, his sweetheart. Before the war, the four were stage performers. When Manila was attacked, the fled to different places. Juan eventually transferred to the U.S., and never saw his friends again. "Nobody, Nobody but Juan" is a heartwarming and enjoyable motion picture. Every scene is memorable and pure Dolphy genius. From gyrating in a diaper ala Chorus Line (to the tune of Lito Camo's "Giling-Giling") to mimicking the Nobody, Nobody dance step and trading barbs with Eddie Garcia, then pouring his heart out in Juan's homecoming scene -- Dolphy completely amazes. "Nobody Nobody but Juan opens on Christmas Day. Premier night is on December 17, Thursday at SM Megamall Cinema 10. |
