It was a privilege to be invited at the press conference of Life Haven at Trenza Salon, Tomas Morato last May 29. Thanks to KanKan Ramos and Laszlo Lim of Yehey! . I am not so sure about my feelings but whenever I see a disabled person, my heart gets fragmented. We are truly blessed that we had this simple life. We don't really have to take life's entire burden. Unlike those people who wish to cross the street or even to ride a bus without their wheelchairs. . What is Life Haven? Life Haven, Inc. (LHI) is a non-profit organization of persons with disabilities (PWD), duly registered at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on July 7th, 2005 with a mission to promote the Independent Living (IL) philosophy. It's a society where people with disabilities are independent, self-determined and participates actively in promoting self-development. The Independent Living movement started in Berkeley, California during the 70's and became a worldwide phenomenon encouraging the restoration of self-confidence and self-respect of persons with disabilities, promoting active participation and awareness of our inherent rights such as equal opportunities. The movement is striving for social change that will result to a barrier-free society where persons with disabilities are successfully integrated in the community with equal rights and opportunities as those without disabilities.
