Launching of the Coalition For The Deserving
Friday, February 6, 2009
Four political parties are coalescing with one another and have formed the "Coalition for the Deserving" in an attempt to bring about a new system of choosing the next president and other key leaders of the Philippines without regard to party affiliations, and on the basis solely of an individual's capacity to inspire or be trustworthy and be compassionate. The parties are Aksyon Demokratiko, which was founded by the late Sen. Raul Roco, Reporma which was founded by former Defense Secretary Rene de Villa, Kilusang Bagong Lipunan which was founded by former President Marcos, and Bigkis Pinoy, a party list group that has been accredited as a political party. In the launching rites last February 3 at the Centennial Hall of the Manila Hotel presided over by former Chairman Perfecto Yasay Jr. of the Securities and Exchange Commission and chosen as the coalition spokesman, the Coalition asked all Filipinos, especially the youth, to join in this noble and great cause, as the the entire Philippines clamor desperately change." In attendance were the ranking officials and leaders of the four political parties:
