Forrest Gump meets Bloggers at Bubba Gump, Trinoma

Bubba Gump celebrated first year anniversary at Trinoma so they invited bloggers to meet and have lunch with no other than Forrest Gump. I was lucky to be part of their first year anniversary as they introduced Bubba Gump's Excitin' New Dishes!!! I must say that all new dishes they served us from appetizer to dessert were really SCRUMPTIOUS!!! Steve Weber visited Manila to promote Bubba Gump and their new menu. When I first glanced at him, I really thought it was the real Forrest Gump, lol. He was carrying that signature Nike shoes, suitcase and chocolate box, lol. The movie "Forrest Gump" was shown in 1994 with Tom Hanks in the title role, was a smash-hit at the box office and won 6 Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Film Editing, Best Visual Effects and Best Screenplay Adapted from Other Material. After the success of the movie “Forrest Gump” (Tom Hanks) , Paramount Pictures approached Rusty Pelican Restaurants Inc. with their desire to open a casual family restaurant with a theme based on Forrest Gump’s life, philosophy and love of shrimp. Scott Barnett, then-president and CEO of Rusty Pelican Restaurants Inc., along with his executive team, created a concept that soon led to a signed agreement with Paramount Pictures for the first and only casual restaurant chain based on a motion picture property. In 1996, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. opened its first restaurant on Cannery Row in Monterey, Calif., setting the fun and casual tone for Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. The restaurant was an instant success and things took off from there. Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. captures the charm and American spirit that made “Forrest Gump” a smash hit, featuring down-home décor reminiscent of the movie’s setting in Alabama. Now branded as an American icon, the restaurant showcases memorabilia and still-photos from the movie, along with reproductions of script pages, storyboards and even some costumes. Scrawled “Gumpisms” grace the varnished tabletops inside and guests can try on plaster casts of Forrest’s running shoes at the famed bus bench in front of each restaurant location.
 Entrance Menu Excitin' New dishes! FRESH CATCH SPECIALS - a whole new section featuring fish that’s prepared fresh and not frozen. Mediterranean Trevally (Talakitok). Fresh Trevally pan-seared with grape tomatoes, kalamata olives, herbs and capers. Fresh Red Snapper (Maya-maya). Fresh red snapper pan-seared and seasoned, topped with their fresh Mayan Salsa of tomatoes, onions, chillies, garlic, avocado, fresh lime juice and their Cilantro and Mole infused oils. Served over Jasmine rice. Surgeon Fish (Labahita) with Mango Pineapple Salsa. Fresh surgeon fish filets seasoned and pan-seared, topped with fresh Mango salsa and drizzled with carrot and ginger infused oils. Served over Jasmine rice. Fresh Cajun Pompano with Mayan Salsa & Shrimp. Grilled fresh Cajun pompano and grilled shrimp placed over a bed of Jasmine rice. Served with salsa fresca. *Grilled Shrimp Salad with Garlic-Cilantro Dressing Crispy Romaine tossed with a Garlic-Cilantro Dressing and topped with tender, marinated shrimp, fresh roasted Red Bell Peppers and Pine Nuts. I love it!!!    *Spicy Jambalaya Pasta Shrimp and spicy Andouille Sausage over Linguini with Bourbon Street Tomato Sauce. I like spicy foods so I enjoyed eating this one while chatting with some bloggers.   *"That Chocolate Thing" A special jar of warm flourless Chocolate Cake, topped with Vanilla Ice Cream and Whipped Cream, and drizzled with a Raspberry Sauce. This is too big for one person so Jeric, Dianne and I shared this "Chocolate Thing", lol.    Speckled Lemonade (I love it!)
